Computer System Validation · Data Integrity · Manufacturing Systems

Validated systems, evidence that stands up.

Kestrel Life Sciences helps pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies specify, build, validate and remediate the computerised systems their products depend on. We write the evidence ourselves, and we make it hold together.

Why people call us

Start with the problem, not the service list.

01

“We have a data integrity finding to close.”

Gap assessment, a remediation plan, the technical controls, and a check that they still work afterwards.

02

“We are bringing in a new system and it has to be validated.”

The validation package written alongside the project, so go-live is not waiting on paperwork.

03

“We need one document, and we need it soon.”

A user requirements specification, validation plan, risk assessment or protocol, made to order for your system.

04

“Our supplier has delivered and we are not sure it is right.”

Independent review of the specification, the testing and the evidence, and oversight of the integrator until it is.

05

“Data is not reaching the batch record reliably.”

Interface design, OPC and historian engineering, with the data path qualified end to end.

06

“We are migrating and must prove nothing was lost.”

Migration strategy, reconciliation and verification evidence, and quality sign-off.

07

“Our quality system does not cover computerised systems.”

Policies, procedures and templates written for your organisation, ready for audit.

08

“Our team is spread across countries and languages, and the requirements are getting lost.”

We map the requirements through to the validation package, so everyone works from the same record.

09

“We are short of validation people for a project.”

Experienced people who join your team for the work, then hand it back.

Services

What we do

Every service follows the same lifecycle: understand the process, define the requirements, assess the risk, build or configure, test, and hand over evidence that stands up to inspection.

Computer System Validation

Risk-based validation across IT, automation and laboratory systems.

  • Validation plans and master plans
  • Requirements, functional and configuration specifications
  • Risk assessments and traceability
  • IQ, OQ, PQ and user acceptance testing
  • Summary reports, periodic review and retirement

Data Integrity and Remediation

Findings turned into controls that still work at the next review.

  • Access, audit trail, time, back-up, restore and archive
  • Audit trail review and review by exception
  • Data flow mapping and Part 11 / Annex 11 gap analysis
  • CAPA closure and effectiveness checks

Manufacturing Systems

Execution, control and historian systems, engineered and validated.

  • MES including Körber Werum PAS-X
  • Emerson DeltaV, PLC and SCADA
  • AVEVA PI: infrastructure, archive, Asset Framework, interfaces
  • ISA-95 and ISA-88 data modelling

Integration and OPC

Interfaces between shop floor, laboratory and enterprise systems.

  • OPC UA and DA development and qualification
  • MES-to-historian and equipment interfaces
  • REST APIs, JSON, XML, Python, Java and SQL
  • Industry 4.0 and IoT connectivity

Quality Systems and Veeva Vault

Quality systems written from a blank sheet, and Vault programmes led from the quality side.

  • QMS authoring, manual and electronic
  • Change control, CAPA and deviation review
  • Veeva Vault QualityDocs, QMS and RIM
  • Audit lead, audit host and supplier audits

Data Migration

Regulated records that arrive complete, unchanged and provable.

  • Migration strategy and validation plan
  • Query-based mass migration (VQL, SQL)
  • Reconciliation and verification evidence
  • Quality sign-off and legacy retirement

Laboratory Systems

The path from instrument to record, treated as a GxP data flow.

  • LabWare LIMS validation and interfaces
  • QC instrument connectivity
  • Chromatography data systems
  • Electronic laboratory notebooks

SAP, Serialisation and Infrastructure

The enterprise and infrastructure layers the shop floor depends on.

  • SAP validation and S/4HANA test management
  • Serialisation, ISA-95 Levels 1 to 4
  • Networks, data centres, virtualisation, cloud
  • Cyber security and disaster recovery

Made to order

Documentation built for your system, not pulled from a template library.

Tell us the system and the regulation, and we produce the document or the whole package, right first time and ready for audit. Order one deliverable or a full lifecycle set. You pay for the work that is done.

If it is in a GAMP guide, we can deliver it

We work to the ISPE GAMP guides and good practice guides, including:

  • GAMP 5, Second Edition
  • Records and Data Integrity
  • Data Integrity by Design
  • Data Integrity – Manufacturing Records
  • Risk-Based Testing of GxP Systems

computersystemvalidation.io: traceability built in, and a human in control of every decision.

A validation package is a set of documents that must agree with each other. Most of the effort, and most of the inspection findings, sit in the joins: the requirement with no test, the test that traces to nothing, the clause nobody addressed.

computersystemvalidation.io helps validation engineers draft lifecycle documents, find the gaps in an existing document set, and keep requirements, specifications and tests traceable to one another. It is a decision-support tool. It does not validate a system for you, and it does not replace the validation engineer.

What it does

  • Import and assessment. See requirements without tests, tests without requirements, and inconsistencies between documents.
  • Assisted drafting. Every drafted statement cites its source; where there is none, a gap is recorded.
  • Traceability matrix. A V-model matrix generated from the links between items.
  • Regulatory register. Switch regulations on or off per project, such as EU GMP Annex 11, 21 CFR Part 11 and GAMP 5, and see which clauses are addressed and which are open.
  • Test execution. Run approved protocols on screen, with signatures, evidence and anomalies recorded against each step.
  • Audit trail. An append-only record of activity, with tamper detection.
  • Word export. Documents leave as .docx for your own review and approval.

Principles

  • Suggestions are not evidence. A proposed link counts only when a person confirms it.
  • A gap is better than a guess. Unsupported content is flagged, never invented.
  • Your document system stays yours. It works alongside your existing one.

Sectors

Where we work

Pharma and biotech

Active pharmaceutical ingredients, biologics, vaccines, sterile and oral dose, plasma products and packaging. GMP, GLP, GCP and GDP.

Medical devices

ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 62304, EU MDR and 21 CFR Part 820, with the system integration to match.

Suppliers and integrators

Validation packages and quality systems for vendors supplying IT and automation into regulated manufacturers.

How we engage

Simple to start, clear at the end.

Scope

A short call to agree the system, the regulation and the deliverables.

Quote

Fixed deliverables or time-based, whichever suits the work.

Deliver

Remote by default, on site for workshops, walkdowns and testing.

Hand over

Evidence reviewed, approved and ready for inspection.

About

Engineers who validate, and validators who engineer.

Both sides of the record

We author requirements, protocols and reports, and we have sat in the reviewer's and approver's seat for change controls, CAPAs and deviations.

From the cable up

A base trade in network engineering means infrastructure, interfaces and applications are understood as one system.

International teams

We are used to global programmes and team members for whom English is not always the first language. This is often where we are brought in: to map the requirements, the validation packages and the evidence into one clear record.

Inspection experience

Audit lead and audit host, supplier audits, and remediation programmes driven by regulator findings.

Insights

The rules are being rewritten. Here is what they mean.

Annex 11, rewritten

What the 2025 draft asks of every computerised system, and what to do before the final text lands.

Annex 22 and AI

Which models can be used in critical GMP applications, and the evidence needed before one goes live.

Tell us what you need validated, fixed or built.

We will come back to you within one working day.
